Was ABC serious last night?

I wasn't able to watch all of it due to the Twins game being televised, so I've been reading the transcripts here. I am amazed at how much time was spent on what I've continually thought of as the petty, fringe topics. It has nothing to do with the fact that these are topics that are unfavorable to Obama. I think I've been fairly consistent is stating that harping on these non-issues, regardless of the candidate, do nothing to assist the county in picking the most able person to lead the country. I've also stated that I think the American people are smart enough to parse through the crap (especially after being distracted by it in the past couple elections). Wait, strike that...MOST Americans are able to parse through the crap.

But both Clinton and Obama had to pull up their waders last night 'cause the bullshit was runnin' deep.

This is an actual question asked by Georgie boy...

"[D]o you think Reverend Wright loves America as much as you do?"

For Christ's sake.

The first hour centered on the following topics:

Pastors
Ayers
"Bitterness"
Bosnia
Lapel Pins

I was waiting for either Gibson or Stephanopoulous to ask Obama if he wore boxers or briefs, or ask Clinton if she liked someone in the room "like more than a friend." It was ridiculous.

And to me, one of the most condescending points regarding this garbage is that the media has given this managerie of tripe a rather Orwellian moniker..."Electability". In other words, this is the information upon which the voting public will make it's decision...as if voters go to the ballot box with the same insight they would when texting their vote Yea or Nea on Taylor Hicks. Apparently, the issues of the failing economy, budget deficit and national debt, Iraq, healthcare, education and foreign policy are just extra shit to ride out the time until the next commerical break.

I, for one, won't be duped into picking my president based on how neat he/she seems or how bitchin' they'd be at a party.

ABC certainly highlighted the trend by "news" to view all topics as entertainment in that debate! Fox news and Rush Limbaugh were sitting one two in race to be what is to news what the WWF is to wrestling, Now comes this johnny come lately attempt by ABC to become the least credible network in America. Barack needs to address the issues that are important to Americans.Engaging the Clntons or the news entertainment business takes him off the issues and helps John McCain so why doesn't he "Just Say No" to further debates?
