Carlos Quentin to have surgery on broken wrist...

USA Today:

Chicago White Sox All-Star left fielder Carlos Quentin, a leading contender for the American League MVP award, will undergo surgery next week on his fractured right wrist, the White Sox announced Friday.

Quentin's loss is a major blow to the White Sox's title hopes. Chicago will take a 1 1/2-game lead in the AL Central into a weekend series at home against the AL West-leading Los Angeles Angels.

That is quite unfortunate for the White Sox. No one LIKES to see injuries (unless it's AJP getting hit squarely in the junk by a foul tip or something). But they are, just like many other things, part of the game. The Twins have suffered their fair share this season as well, including a rather lenghty stint by Michael Cuddyer.

The Twins should look at this as an opportunity to gain some ground on the White Sox in the division and push late for the postseason. The Sox play the Angels without their best hitter while the Twins host the hapless Tigers. This HAS to be a series that the Twins make up ground. My advice? Lock Boof Bonzer in his hotel room accidentally/on purpose and institute the "Adam Everette is not to do anything but pinch run" rule immediately.
