I agree with every thing that you wrote but your perspective haunts me, probably because a part of me remains a class 9 bigot.The bias we grow up with is not shed easily and even if saying that is an intellectual copout it remains a rather strange reality. That being said, though BO might not have HAD to give the speech, it is very important to me that he say the things he said that night if only because he recognizes that there are issues many of us need to deal with. All of us, if he is to become the President (I worked on POTUS for two days before that came to me) will have to acknowledge that Barack Obama is black. And you know, we should take him at his word that he is not a Muslim, AT LEAST AS FAR AS I KNOW! Said Billary on 60 minutes.
